Triple Combo Logging Services
Get the complete picture — gamma, resistivity, density, and neutron porosity in a single wireline run.
What You Get:
What Is Triple Combo Logging?
Triple Combo logging is the industry-standard method for comprehensive formation evaluation. It combines multiple geophysical sensors into a single tool string that is run through your open borehole, measuring gamma ray, resistivity, density, neutron porosity, and caliper all at once. The result is a complete dataset that tells you what rock types are present, how porous they are, what fluids they contain, and which zones are worth completing.
If you need to know whether a formation contains oil, gas, or water — and how much — Triple Combo is the tool for the job.
Why Triple Combo?
Drilling a well is a significant investment. Basic electric logs can identify formation boundaries and estimate water quality, but they cannot directly measure porosity, distinguish between oil-bearing and water-bearing zones, or provide the quantitative data needed for accurate reserve estimates. Without that level of detail, operators risk completing in nonproductive zones, underestimating reserves, or designing inefficient stimulation programs.
What We Measure
- Gamma Ray — records natural radioactivity to distinguish reservoir rock from shale. The universal tool for lithology identification and formation correlation.
- Dual Induction Resistivity — measures formation conductivity at two depths of investigation. The primary tool for determining water saturation and distinguishing hydrocarbons from water.
- Compensated Neutron Porosity — measures hydrogen content in the formation, which relates directly to porosity in liquid-filled formations.
- Compensated Density — measures bulk density via gamma ray attenuation. Provides an independent porosity measurement and, combined with neutron data, identifies gas-bearing zones through the characteristic crossover effect.
- Photoelectric Factor (PE) — a lithology indicator that distinguishes sandstone, limestone, and dolomite regardless of porosity or fluid content.
- Caliper — continuous borehole diameter measurement for quality control and cement volume calculations.
What You Learn
- Lithology — accurate rock type identification at every depth.
- Porosity — quantitative total and effective porosity from both density and neutron measurements.
- Fluid content — water saturation calculations showing hydrocarbon versus water in the pore space.
- Gas detection — neutron-density crossover analysis to identify gas-bearing intervals.
- Net pay — identification of productive reservoir intervals.
- Reservoir quality — assessment of heterogeneity and producibility.
